April 19 - One week to go
No updates since Silverstone, mainly due to staying offline during the Easter Holidays, plenty going on though. 10 days to 2 weeks ago I ran just under 20 miles in around 2hrs 55mins. Keeps me in good shape to make that 3hr 45min mark next Sunday but it was agony towards the end. I cant imagine how the last 6.2 miles is going to feel but will find out soon enough!
Training started to taper off 4-5 days ago and I'll be taking it easy this week, looking forward to Sunday. In a strange kind of way!
I have also made it onto the Chicago Marathon so that'll be something to look forward to next October :s
March 15 - Silverstone Half-Marathon
I finished in 1hr 44mins and 18secs, 42 seconds. Well inside my target of 1.45. Pretty good going I think. I placed 1221 out of 10600 entrants and 6800 finishers, also 1st out of all Thompsons! (although one Thomson beat me!) There wasnt alot left in the tank at the finish line so theres still some work to be done, but Im still confident of a sub 3.45 marathon
Weekend of Feb 28/March 1
This weekend the training schedule called for a timed 10,000m run (6.25 miles in real money). Seeing as I'm too cheap to buy even a casio watch with a bulit in stopclock I just looked at the time when I left the house then again when I got back in! It took about 53 minutes to do a .5 mile warm up, the 10k run and a 0.25 mile warm down. This puts me in a good position for my target 3.30-3.45 hour marathon time, although I will have a clearer idea of how I'm going after the Silverstone Half-Marathon in two weeks.
